About

Deborah Richards, AIA is a licensed architect in New York, Oklahoma and Massachusetts.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University where she was awarded a William Kinne Fellowship.  Deborah spends her time between New York City (NY), Lakeville (MA), and Oklahoma City (OK).

She is the owner of   Script Architecture, PLLC  .  Script is an award winning practice located in New York City and Oklahoma City.

She is the co-founder and Chief Design Officer of   Open Design  , a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that brings together underrepresented communities and the design and city planning resources necessary to promote social and spatial change. She is committed to responsible urban development and served on the Oklahoma City Downtown Design Review Committee and was a board member BlackSpace Oklahoma.

Deborah is an Assistant Professor at the   The University of Oklahoma  .  She teaches architecture and urban design studios and computational design and fabrication seminars. 

 

NEWS:
Deborah is the PI for the NSF CIVIC project   "Legcay Building Toolset."
She wrote the article   "Equity & Dignity by Design: Co-creating Guidelines with Planned Parenthood Affiliate Health Centers"   published by Journal of Architectural Education.
Open Design has finished the final report of   "So8th: A Community Vision"   which is a community co-designed master plan for the Oklahoma City Redevelopment Authority.
